Excalibur ranked for its own name and almost nothing else. Neighbourhood and airport queries went to competitors with thinner service but more pages.
Ranking only for your own name means you are only found by people who already know you. Every search that described the job rather than the company — a town name, an airport run, a vehicle type — went to somebody else, regardless of who actually ran the better service.
When someone did call from a non-brand search, after-hours volume went to voicemail. Rankings without an answer still lose the job, so there was no point winning the visibility until the phone could hold it.
Built location and service entities
Service-area pages with real coverage, NAP consistency and internal links that treat each town and airport as a distinct entity. Each page had to earn its place by describing a service that is genuinely offered there, rather than being the same page with the place name swapped.
Answered the search on the phone
An AI receptionist quotes from the live rate card and books into the calendar so new rankings are not wasted on missed calls. This was deliberately built before the rankings arrived, so the new demand had somewhere to land.
Cleaned citations and Google Business
Categories, services and Q&A rewritten as facts a local pack and an answer engine can cite. Stated coverage, stated vehicle types, stated hours — the specifics a model can quote, instead of adjectives it has to ignore.
Tracked terms that mean a booked car
Ranking set limited to service terms that historically produce rides, reported against calls booked — not vanity keywords. A term that ranks but never produces a call was treated as noise and left out of the reporting.
The business became findable for the job rather than only for the name. Searches that describe a route, a town or a vehicle type started reaching Excalibur instead of competitors with thinner service and more pages.
Because the answering layer was built first, the additional visibility arrived at a phone that could quote and book it. The rankings and the response capacity were treated as one system, which is why the new terms turned into calls rather than missed calls.
